Let me guess...
You’re feeling stuck in a job that doesn’t fit your personality.
You chose your current job based on the expectations of others — whether that be society, family, friends, or a mixture of all of the above.
You want to feel more connected to the work you do… I mean, it does take up the majority of your weeks [and therefore, life], after all.
You know you have more to give to this world, and you’re realizing your job is not helping you do that.
It doesn’t have to be this way.
You can find a career that is more authentic and meaningful to you.
You’re not alone. I’ve been there, too.
My undergraduate major, business, was chosen largely out of unrealistic expectations — whether explicit or implicit — from myself and others.
Basically I was focused on what I thought success needed to look like, not what I wanted it to.
This led me to a corporate leadership development program in the energy industry upon graduation.
Even though I was not necessarily pursuing my passion, those 5 years of corporate experience were instrumental for me — however, a relationship oriented, type B personality like myself was destined to discover that this was not my dream career.
Nerve-racking yet thoughtfully planned, I made the switch, and you can too! It’s been 5 years since I made the leap, and I’ve never thought twice about it.
